Frank O. Thompson Sr., age 67, a life long resident of Monroe, MI passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at 12:20 AM at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. Frank was born February 6, 1941 in Monroe, the son of the late Earl and Viola D. (Dushane) Thompson. Frank attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1959 graduate of Monroe High School. Frank served his country proudly in the US Army from December 4, 1959 until November 21, 1962. Frank's tour of duty was spent mostly in Germany. On August 2, 1985 in Monroe, Frank married his beloved wife the former Loretta J. Smith. Frank was employed for 34 years by General Motors working at the Hydromatic Plant in Toledo. Frank retired in 2004. Frank is survived by his beloved wife Loretta, 4 daughters; Belinda Rushlow of Toledo, OH, Tammy Thompson of Monroe, Rachel (David) Downey of Toledo, OH and Shannon Papenfuss of Mahnomen, MN, 2 stepsons; Michael Kunza of Monroe and Keith Wells of Denver, CO, a brother Jerry U. (Phyllis) Thompson of LaSalle, MI and 9 cherished grandchildren. In addition to his parents Frank was preceded in death by his son Frank O. Thompson Jr., a grandson Justin Thompson, 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-8 PM and Sunday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, September 15, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo, pastor of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe.
