Frank Nogar, Jr., 92 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Magnum Care of Monroe.
Born September 15, 1920 in Monroe, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Bertha (Spitaller) Nogar, Sr. Frank attended Monroe Public Schools and was a 1938 graduate of Monroe High School. Frank went on to further his education by attending the University of Michigan.
On October 8, 1955 Frank married his beloved wife, the former Dorothy L. Broadus, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe.
Frank was employed by Consolidated Paper Company, American Car and Foundry Company, Continental Aviation and Engineering, and Kaiser-Frazer Corp., all of Detroit. Willys Motors, Kaiser Jeep Corp. and Jeep Corp., all of Toledo, and American Motors, Detroit, before retiring on November 30, 1985.
Frank was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church where he served as Chairman of the Trustees and the churches elevator project and co chairman of the sanctuary renovation. Frank also serves on the finance committee, the administrative board, was a junior high counselor of UMYF, and was a member of the Senior Fellowship. Frank also volunteered his time to help with the funeral dinners
Frank enjoyed gardening, framing pictures, canoeing, and tennis. He was an enthusiastic fan of University of Michigan athletics. More than anything Frank was a wonderful husband and father, he loved spending time with his family and his daughter Ruth's friends.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dorothy, his loving daughter: Ruth Anne DeGraaf of Monroe, a nephew: Douglas (Julie) Jensen – McWethy of Hercules, CA, and a niece: Dianne (James) Stitzlein of Chesterfield, MO. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by a sister: Cleobelle (Everett) McWethy and a brother: Fr. Raymond Nogar.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where a memorial service celebrating Frank's life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Evans Bentley will officiate. In keeping with Frank's wishes cremation and interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
