Frances M. Johnson, age 89, of Novi, formerly of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Angela Hospice in Livonia.
Frances was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born November 2, 1934 in Monroe. She was the daughter of Joseph J. and Lena M. (Bacarella) Liparoto. During high school she met her husband James E. Johnson. Together they celebrated their 70th anniversary in May.
She was a 1952 graduate of Monroe High School. She worked for AT&T as a switchboard operator and owned and managed J&L Associates and Johnson Services. She was an assistant in the math department at Monroe High School from 1979 until her retirement in 1983.
Frances was a caretaker at heart, always wanting to take care of others whether that was a family member or a stranger, making sure everyone had what they needed. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and then St John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and traveling, having taken 36 cruises throughout the world, visiting 5 continents.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Johnson; three sons, James J. (Nancy), Joel and Jeric (Sarah) Johnson; a brother, Samuel (Barbara) Liparoto; three grandchildren, Brian Johnson, Annika Johnson and Fiona Johnson. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, William Liparoto and a sister, Anna Losey.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 14, 2024 starting at 10 AM, with a funeral service at 12 noon at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. Rev. David Burgard, pastor of St. Mary Catholic Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
