Frances Faye Hammack of Monroe, MI, passed away at Monroe Springs on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the age of 89.

Faye was born on September 18, 1936 in Harlan County, KY to the late Fred and Ruby (Ramsey) Hammack. At a young age Faye went to live with her grandparents in Ewing, VA until her marriage to Tommy Cotnam. They were blessed with the births of two daughters, Julie and Lori.

Faye was employed in the food services department at Ford Motor Company until her retirement. She enjoyed her many years of employment there, making many life-long friends along the way.

Faye will be remembered for her amazing sense of humor and was always ready to laugh. She could tell a joke better than anyone.

Faye is survived by her daughter, Lori Tyra Betts; four grandchildren, Rachael Tyra, Ty Tyra, Brandon Tyra, and Courtney Tyra; multiple great-grandchildren; two brothers, Fred (Diana) Hammack and Roger (Cathy) Hammack; two sisters, Linda (Bob) Carpenter and Patsy (Mike) Burchett.

In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie in 2002 and granddaughter, Joslyn in 2024.

The Hammack family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Monroe Springs for their kind and compassionate care, and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care and professionalism… we are forever grateful.

Per Faye’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A family dinner will be held at a later date.
