Very Reverend, Fr. Miosav Ghingilovich, 85 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Monroe Springs Nursing and Rehab Center in Monroe.
Born February 6, 1939 in Gelu, Romania, Miosav was the son of the late Mirco and Georgina Ghingilovich. He received his master's degree in theology from the University of Sibiu in Romania.
On November 28, 1965, Miosav married his beloved wife, the former Desanca Iasin, in Gelu. Sadly, Desa, preceded him in death on November 27, 2023, one day short of their 58th wedding anniversary.
The couple moved to Monroe on October 31, 1981 from Romania. They became proud citizens of the United States in 1986.
Upon their arrival in Monroe, Miosav became the parish priest of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church. He worked diligently to continue the Serbian Orthodox traditions at the church until his retirement in 2012. He remained a member of the congregation.
Miosav was musically inclined and enjoyed singing, with his deep baritone voice, and playing the accordion. He also enjoyed walking along the River Raisin river walk. He will be remembered as a man of deep faith and a love for family.
Miosav is survived by his loving daughter and son in law: Miriana and Stoyan Popadich and two cherish grandson's Nikola and Alexander Popadich.
On Monday, March 11, 2024 Fr. Miosav will lie in state at St. George Serbian Orthodox Church, 2330 N. Monroe St., Monroe, MI, 48162, from 3:00 – 8:00 pm. His funeral service will begin that evening at 6:00 pm. On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 his funeral liturgy will be at 9:00 am. Fr. Rade Obsenica, parish priest of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
