On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, Floyd George England, age 88, of Monroe, was called home to be with the Lord.
Floyd was born February 23, 1937, in St. Charles, Virginia, to William (Bill) and Eddie (Ettie) (Woods) England. On December 1, 1972, he married the love of his life, Donna B. Giamanco. Together they shared 50 blessed years of marriage until Donna went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2023.
Floyd dedicated many years as a supervisor for DT&I Railroad, retiring in 1998. Beyond his work, his greatest joy was found in serving the Lord and spending time with those he loved. He was a faithful member of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, where his church family meant so much to him. He also enjoyed fellowship through the DT&I Old Timers Club.
Floyd loved the simple blessings of life—going for car rides searching for deer and eagles, visiting with friends, and being surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His heart was happiest when he was with family, and he leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and devotion that will continue for generations.
He is survived by six children: Cindy Hurst of Monroe, Terry Hastings of Taylor, Floyd (Melissa) England of Monroe, Tonya Moyer of Monroe, Chrissy (Mickey) Yavorsky of Monroe, and Amy England of Monroe; 14 grandchildren: Chayson, Christopher, Whitney, Dalton, Nicole, Jon, Jessica, David, Lydia, Teisha, Josh, Alyssa, Tyler, and Lorine; and 27 great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.
In addition to his beloved wife, Floyd was welcomed into Heaven by his daughter, Bonnie England; his parents; his brother, James England; and sisters, Juanita Dye and Oma Yeary.
Family and friends may gather from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at Bacarella Funeral Home. A celebration of Floyd's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025, also at Bacarella Funeral Home, with Rev. Jake Clawson, pastor of Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Following the service, Floyd will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery—though we rejoice knowing his true home is with the Lord.
Memorial contributions in Floyd's honor are suggested to Evergreen Acres Missionary Baptist Church, a place he dearly loved.
