Florene L. Theisen

Florene L. Theisen, 92 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2018, in her home. Born July 25, 1926 in Newton, Illinois, Florene was the daughter of the late Everett and Martha (Woodard) Mitchell. The family moved to Monroe in 1943. Florene was a 1944 graduate of St. Mary's Academy. On October 16, 1948 Florene married her beloved husband, Donald W. Theisen, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on December 12, 1987 after 38 years of marriage. Florene worked as the manager of St. Patrick's Credit Union in Carleton for over 20 years. She was also a wonderful homemaker. Florene was a member of Stewart Road Church of God and it's widows group. She was a prayer warrior for both Stewart Road Church of God and St. Patrick Catholic Church. She volunteered for over 20 years at the Monroe County Court House as a greeter, as well as doing other various jobs as needed. She enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events, watching Christian television, reading her Bible, canning, and sewing. Most of all, Florene enjoyed time spent with family, Florene is survived by nine loving children: Cheryl A. Stein of Monroe, Donna M. (Rich) Carpenter of Monroe, Janice E. (Gary) Conant of Monroe, Lietta J. (Kenneth) Bonk of Monroe, Marcia K. (Mark) Swensen of Kaysville, UT, Juanita M Theisen of Maybee, MI, David A. Theisen of Carleton, MI, John W. (Angie) Theisen of Adrian, MI, and Angela M. Barron of Monroe and a daughter in law, Lisa (Charles) Bruck of Carleton; twenty-seven cherished grandchildren and thirty-six treasured great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Florene was preceded in death by two sons, James and Jeffery; three sisters: Lametta, Catherine, and Eleanor and a son in law, Thomas Stein. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-6 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road, Monroe, MI, 48161. On Monday, November 26, 2018 she will lie in state at Stewart Road Church of God from 10:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dr. Joseph Byrd, Pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will be held at St. Patrick Cemetery in Carleton, Michigan.
