Florence S. Lazette, 91 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, MI passed away on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 4:00 PM in Tendercare of Monroe with her loving family at her side. Florence was born June 30, 1918 in Monroe, MI the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah (Gee) LaPrad. On November 9, 1940 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Monroe Florence married her beloved husband Chester F. Lazette. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 10, 1971. Florence was employed by JCPenney in Monroe from 1936 until her retirement 1978. Florence was also a homemaker and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Florence was an avid sports fan and was of the old school of listening to the Detroit Tigers, Lions, Red Wings and Pistons on her radio. In addition to listening to the radio Florence enjoyed reading. Most of all Florence enjoyed being with and spending time with her family. Florence is survived by her loving daughter Darlene J. Johnson of Toledo, OH and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. In addition to her parents and husband Florence was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 7 brothers and 3 nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where a Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 PM. On Friday, February 12, 2010 she will lie in state at St. Anne's Catholic Church 2420 N. Dixie Hwy. in Monroe, from 9:30 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her Christian life at 10:30 AM. Fr. Robert C. Mossett, pastor of the church will officiate. A private interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Anne's Catholic Church.
