Florence Kuron, 86, of Newport, passed away, with her loyal family at her side, at 3:48 AM, Sunday, April 27, 2008. She had been in poor health for a year. Born June 5, 1921 in Denorra, PA to William and Mary (Krupska) Surpick, she married Frank P. Kuron of October 10, 1941 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Detroit. They moved to Newport in 1962 from Detroit. Sadly, he preceded her in death on October 29, 1997. A homemaker, she was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport and it's choir, she was an active volunteer at church, where she helped host funeral luncheons, she also volunteered for the American Red Cross. She was a very family oriented person who primary focus was them. She leaves to cherish her memory 2 loving daughters, Frances Gregory of Venice, FL and Susan (George) Nairn of Sterling Heights, MI, 7 devoted grandchildren, and 10 precious great grandchildren. Her parents, 2 sisters, and a brother also preceded her in death. The family will greet friends on Tuesday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 1-8 PM, where a Scripture Service will be held at 4 PM. She will lie in state on Wednesday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Newport from 9:45 AM until a Mass of the Resurrection for her at 10:30 AM. Fr. Fred Misiolek, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial will follow, next to her husband, at St. Charles Cemetery. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to Mercy Memorial Hospice of Monroe.
