Florence A. Beeker, 90, of Monroe, passed away at 9:55 AM, Thursday, January 31, 2008 in the Mercy Memorial Hospital where she had been since Monday. She had been in poor health since entering the Lutheran Home 1 ½ years ago and seriously ill for about a month. She was born April 4, 1917 in LaSalle, MI to Elmer and Edith (Wagner) Kinsey. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1935 graduate of Monroe High School. On October 3, 1940 she married Carlos P. Beeker in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded her in death on February 2, 1996. Primarily a homemaker, she did work part time at JC Penney for many years. Florence had been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1940; it's Ladies Aid Society, the Aid Association for Lutheran's (Thrivent), and the Lutheran Brotherhood Ladies Auxiliary. Her other memberships include Monroe Senior Citizens and the Jolly Worker of Monroe County extension group for over 30 years. Survivors in clued her sons, Larry G. (Sharon) and Duane I. (Judy), both of Monroe, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also preceding her in death were 3 brothers and a sister. Visitation will be held Sunday at the Bacarella Funeral Home from 1-8 PM. She will lie in state on Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church from 10 AM until services at 11 AM, officiating will be Rev. S.R. AuBuchon. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
