Fannie M. DiSabatino, age 92, of Monroe, MI passed away, Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at 7:47 PM in Tendercare of Monroe. Fannie had been in poor health and at Tendercare since January. Fannie was born April 21, 1915 in Fork Ridge, TN the daughter of the late Lee and Leota (Hensley) Jenkins. On March 4, 1934 Fannie married Frank D. DiSabatino in Bowling Green, OH. Then on August 16, 1936 the couple renewed their vows at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe. They celebrated 63 years of marriage just before Franks passing on March 20, 1997. Fannie, along with Frank, owned and operated the Eastside Shoe Repair in Monroe until their retirement in 1985. After retirement Fannie went to work as a hostess for Lee Eye Center in Monroe. Fannie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe where she and her husband were former King and Queen of the yearly festival. Fannie was a past president and life member of the Monroe County Rod and Gun Club; its Road Runner Camper Club and co chaired the wild game dinners. An avid trap shooter, Fannie was a member of the Monroe Rod and Gun Club's state championship team. Fannie was a life member of the Monroe Boat Club and a member of the Monroe Senior Citizens. Fannie enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing. Fannie enjoyed watching sports especially U of M football, the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. She also enjoyed playing golf where she had a hole one at The River Raisin golf club. Fannie leaves to mourn her beloved daughter and son in law Marie S. and Charles N. Gibson of Monroe, 4 cherished grandchildren William, and Daniel Gibson, Dawn (Tom) Simpson and Leigh Anne St. Bernard. 11 cherished great grandchildren, 13 cherished great great grandchildren and a brother Norbert (Peg) Jenkins. In addition to her parents and husband, Fannie was preceded in death by 4 sisters; Juanita Estep, Ruth England, Billie J. Couram and Jennie Brewer and 2 brothers; Rudy and Jim Jenkins. Visitation for Fannie will be held on Friday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where a scripture service will be held at 4 PM. On Saturday, October 6, 2007 she will lie in state at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monroe from 9:00 AM until a Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10 AM. Fr. William Fisher will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Monroe. Memorial contributions may be given to Ann Arbor Hospice or the Alliance for Spay/Neuter and Pet Rescue
