Ethard B. "Fuzzy" Henry, 87 years of Monroe, MI passed away, Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 2:21 AM in Mercy Memorial Hospital where he had been for the past 13 days. Fuzzy, as his family and friends called him, was born October 26, 1922 in Tazewell, TN the son of the late Lonnie F. and Martha J. (Sulfridge) Henry. Fuzzy moved to Monroe along with his family as a child and attended Monroe Public Schools. During WWII Fuzzy served his country honorably and proudly as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. Fuzzy served from December 22, 1942 to January 27, 1946. For his meritorious service Fuzzy was awarded; the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Battle Stars, 2 Overseas Service Bars, 1 Service Stripe and the Good Conduct Medal. On October 28, 1945 in Monroe, Fuzzy married his beloved wife the former Arnette Katherine Smith. Sadly she preceded him in death on April 7, 1985 after 39 years of marriage. Fuzzy was employed as a maintenance man for both Time Container and Jefferson Smurfit until his retirement in 1985. Fuzzy enjoyed collecting trains and gardening. Fuzzy is survived by his beloved son Daniel Lee Henry of Monroe, 3 brothers; James A. Henry of GA, Monroe F. "Juice" (Irene) Henry and Bige C. (Mary) Henry both of Monroe, and a sister; Edith Maniaci of Monroe. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM and Tuesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice.
