Ella M. (Head) Jones, 93, died on Thursday, June 8, 2023. She had been seriously ill since May 31.
Born on October 22, 1929, in Monroe, Ella was the daughter of Clifford and Margaret (McCauley) Head. On August 13, 1947, she married Jack R Jones. They enjoyed life together in Monroe for 66 years.
Surviving are her children Jack (Diana) Jones and Patricia (Timothy) Pigott; her daughter-in-law Debra Jones; grandchildren Tricia (Brandon) Bancker, Lora (Patrick) Fitzgerald and Derrick Jones; great-grandchildren Connor and Hannah Fitzgerald and Bodie and Knox Bancker; 2 step-grandchildren, Wendi and James Jones, 5 step-great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law David Jones and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, her son Daniel, brothers Gene and William Head and several half-brothers and half-sisters.
Ella was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, where she was a member of United Methodist Women and volunteered, with her husband, at many church functions. Over the years, she volunteered at Meals on Wheels, the Monroe Thrift Shop, and the Monroe Regional Hospital. Ella was also a member of the Townsite Garden Club, serving as its President, and a representative at the state and national level.
After a busy and fulfilling life as a wife and mother, Ella became a worldwide traveler. She visited many places in United States with Jack. They also made numerous trips to Europe. Some of her favorites were the trips they took to the Christmas Markets in Germany with her daughter's family.
Ella will be sadly missed by her entire family.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 13th from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family has requested no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or a charity of the donor's choice.
