Eleanore Mieden

Eleanore N. Mieden, 92 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at Brookdale Senior Living, Clare Bridge of Monroe with her loving family at her side and under the Tendercare of Heartland Hospice. Born, August 23, 1918 in Detroit, MI, Eleanore was the daughter of the late Ridgeway and Nellie (Barringer) Woodley. At 11 months old Eleanore was adopted by her beloved parents the late Edmund and Natalie (Gougeon) Brisbois. At the age of 59 Eleanore was reunited with her biological family. On May 1, 1937 Eleanore married her beloved husband Bernard J. Mieden at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Carleton, MI. Sadly he preceded her in death on November 21, 1989. A wonderful homemaker, Eleanore, along with her husband, ran the family farm in LaSalle. After retirement they moved to Fort Pierce, FL for 10 years. Eleanore was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers and the Atlanta Braves baseball games. Most of all Eleanore enjoyed time spent with family. Eleanore is survived by 5 loving children; Paul (Kaye) Mieden of Perrysburg, OH, Elaine (Edward) Lewis of LaSalle, Rosemary (Kenneth) Kamin of Newport, Judith (Charles) Shackelford of Newport and Cathleen (Rusty) Shorter of Monroe, 24 cherished grandchildren, 61 treasured great grandchildren and 8 treasured great great grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband of 52 years Bernard and her parents, Eleanore was preceded in death by her son David Mieden and her granddaughter Candice Mieden. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Saturday, July 2, 2011 she will lie in state at St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe from 9:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Carleton. Memorial contributions are suggested to Heartland Hospice or St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church.
