Eleanor Kathleen Morgan, age 93 of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in her home.
Born October 11, 1929 in Brevard, NC, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Robert and Etta (Eubanks) Rider. On October 19, 1946 she married Richard C. Morgan in Pickens, SC. Together they raised eight children. He preceded her in death on July 10, 1994.
For many years, Eleanor was employed as a retail department store sales clerk for Bargain City and K-Mart. She loved her Lord and was a charter member of Raisinville Baptist Church (now CrossPointe).
Eleanor is survived by six children: Nancy Evans, Marilyn (Steve) Stephens, Richard Morgan, Ronald (Tamera) Morgan, Janice (James) May, and Christina Stephens; sister, Mary Elizabeth "Dib" Wiggins; brother, Bert (Brenda) Rider; son-in-law, Austin Sandefur; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren … and counting.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by two daughters, Dorothy Jean Sandefur and Carolyn Stoll; three brothers, Harold, Charles and Lewis Rider; and son-in-law, Jack Evans.
Family and friends may visit from 12 p.m. until time of funeral service at 6 p.m. Sunday, Mar. 26th at Bacarella Funeral Home. Eleanor's son, Rev. Ron Morgan will officiate. Cremation will follow along with future interment at the Holden Family Cemetery, Brevard, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer memorial donations be made to any hospice organization of the donor's choice.
