Edward Lewis Slatinsky, age 94 of Monroe, MI, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 at Medilodge of Monroe.

Born November 24, 1931 in Latrobe, PA, Ed was the son of the late John and Bertha (Gebroski) Slatinsky. He was educated at Holy Redeemer Catholic School in Detroit.

Ed was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force in 1958 after proudly serving for almost 8 years.

Ed married Margaret M. Morin on July 15, 1957 in Detroit, MI. From this union they had four children. Sadly, she preceded Ed on September 8, 1997 after 40 years of marriage.

Ed was employed for many years by Great Lakes Steel as a Furnace Inspector, retiring in January of 1994.

Ed was a member of United Steel Workers of America Local 1299 and enjoyed living on the lake, the company of his pet dogs, and conversations with his family and friends.

Ed is survived by two daughters, Lynn (Norbert) Shiets of Fremont, OH and Karen (Barry) Bezeau of Monroe; 9 grandchildren: Lauren Aldridge, Heather Bowman, Madison Corbett, Halley Fenech, Mitchell Bezeau, Sydney Bezeau, Jace Bezeau, Morgan Hurd, and MacKynze Slatinsky; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Ed was preceded in death by two sons, Michael (Diane) Slatinsky, and 4 year old, James; two brothers, John and Thomas Slatinsky; and sister, Emily Slatinsky.

Private graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park where military honors will be provided by Monroe VFW Post 1138.

Cremation and funeral arrangements were provided by Bacarella Funeral Home.
