Edward P. Kolmetz, 68 years, of Monroe, MI passed away suddenly on Sunday, June 21, 2009 in the Emergency Room at Mercy Memorial Hospital. Ed was born July 16, 1940 in Huntington, NY the son of the late John and Agnes (Bischoff) Kolmetz. Ed proudly served his country as a Private in the United States Army from October 28, 1963 until October 27, 1965. On April 8, 1967 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Highland Park, MI, Ed married his beloved wife of 42 years the former Carolyn June Mason. The couple moved to Monroe in 1989. Ed was employed as a Machinist for Iverson Inc. in Grosse Ile and Wyandotte, MI until his retirement in 2001. Ed enjoyed playing Cribbage, board games, word puzzles, and trips to the casino with his family. Ed is survived by his beloved wife Carolyn June, his loving son and daughter in law Paul W. and Tina Kolmetz of Monroe, 2 cherished granddaughters; Krystal Lynn and Kaila Marie Kolmetz, 1 treasured great granddaughter Holly June Kolmetz, 4 siblings; John T. (Maryann), Walter, Charlotte and Anna Kolmetz all of Detroit, 2 nephews; Douglas (Carrie) Kolmetz and Christopher (Tammy) Kolmetz, a niece; Kristine Kolmetz and 2 great nephews; Mason and Dale Kolmetz. In addition to his parents, Edward was preceded in death by a brother Charles. In keeping with Edward's wishes there will be no visitation or services and cremation will be held. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
