Obituary

Edna R. Lewis, 73 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Clare Bridge of Monroe with her loving husband and prayer partner, Cecil, at her side.
Born July 22, 1941 in Monroe, Edna was the daughter of the late Albert and Mae (Raines) Woods. She was a 1960 graduate of Monroe High School.
On August 26, 1961 Edna married her beloved husband Cecil H. Lewis at Mountain Assembly Church of God, the Rev. Johnnie Jones officiated at the ceremony.
During high school Edna worked for Kresge's in Monroe. She also owned Edna's Alterations and Monogram Shop in Southfield, Michigan. An excellent seamstress, she did alterations for Diamonds Menswear in Monroe and made wedding dresses, clothes and quilts for many family members and friends. She also designed and made large worship banners for a number of churches. She enjoyed teaching and training others how to sew, and being a perfectionist, she made sure her students learned the proper way. She was very strong in her faith and a wonderful Christian woman. Edna looked forward to spending winters in Florida. Edna was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed entertaining family and friends, however in her later years, she kidded about not liking to cook and lived by the motto "God only ordained me to cook so many meals and I've met my quota"
