Obituary

Edmond Junior O'Dell, 74 years, of Monroe, MI, passed away Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Heartland Health Care Center in Ann Arbor, MI.
Born January 1, 1937 in Sevierville, TN, Edmond was the son of the late Weir E. and Josie Lee (Henry) O'Dell. The O'Dell family moved to Monroe when Edmond was a child. He attended Lincoln Elementary School and Monroe High School.
Edmond served our country honorably and proudly as a Specialist Third Class in the US National Guard.
On October 29, 1955 in LaGrange, IN, Edmond married the Former Shirley Mae Hebert. Sadly she preceded him in death on October 31, 1997. Edmond then married the former Lydia Pellar on February 24, 1999 she too preceded him in death on December 25, 2006.
Edmond worked for General Motors Hydromatic Plant in Toledo for 26 years from which he retired as a Job Setter in 1991.
Edmond was a Volunteer Fireman in Frenchtown Township from 1972-1984, he also volunteered for the American Red Cross. Edmond enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching at the State Park, walking, traveling, and photography. He was a former member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Edmond is survived by 2 loving daughters; Patricia J. (Robert) Probst of Canton, MI, and Catherine Madden of Monroe, 2 cherished grandchildren; Rachel Renee' Probst and Robert Jack Probst II, 8 treasured great grandchildren, 2 brothers; Bob (Kay) O'Dell of Monroe, Larry O'Dell of Temperance, MI and 1 sister; Judy A. (Larry) Shinevarre of Monroe. In addition to his parents and both beloved wives, Edmond was preceded in death by a sister Janice Aldridge.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating Edmond's life will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The Rev. Gary Pickrell will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
