Edith Elizabeth "Edie" Wright, age 73, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Edie was born April 29, 1948, in Hackensack, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Kenneth Orville and Mildred Ethel (Miller) Wright. She was a graduate of Hackensack High School and attended Cedarville University until marrying Ronald Allerton and having her two sons, Aaron and Adam.
Through the years she worked as a hairstylist and medical assistant. As a hairstylist she worked at Fantastic Sam's, Master Cuts and Smart Cuts in the Monroe and Flat Rock area. She was also a caregiver at heart, moving to help take care of her parents and then later her daughter-in-law Connie.
Edie was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church, their Womens Craft Ministry and loved her Sunday school class. She loved to crochet blankets and would make them for family members, the elderly and babies, she also made them to be sold to help fund the Craft Ministry.
She also enjoyed reading and giving gifts too people, even people she just met. Her greatest joy was spending time with her granddaughter Jenna.
Edie is survived by two sons, Aaron Allerton and Adam (Traci) Allerton, both of Monroe; granddaughter, Jenna Allerton; seven siblings, James (Kathy) Wright, Ken (Eileen) Wright, Rick (Jane) Wright, Mary Phykitt, Nancy Connell, Ruth Heins and Ginny (Tony) Roberts.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Connie Allerton.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. Monroe. Rev. Roy Southerland, officiating. The family will continue to receive visitors until 4 p.m.
