Obituary

Earl H. Reaume, age 91, of Monroe, passed away Friday, June 26, 2026 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital. Earl was born March 17, 1935 in Monroe. He was the son of Harvey H. and Carrie S. (Besier) Reaume. He married Ann L. Hoadley June 17, 1961 at Palmyra Presbyterian Church.

He was a 1953 graduate of Monroe High School. While still in school he began working for Neidermeyer Farm Supply in 1950; he continued there until 1955 when he started working at J and R Farm Tractor and eventually became co-owner of the business. Earl loved J and R and had an incredible work ethic. His business was not a job; it was his lifestyle. He truly loved the community and took great pride in always trying to be a good friend and neighbor.

Earl was a member of the Monroe County Fair Board for 54 years, starting in 1966 and retiring in December 2020. While on the board he served as president twice. He was the longest serving Board member. He enjoyed the Tuesday “work bees” and attending the state and national fair conventions.

He loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite past times was “shooting the breeze” with people. He enjoyed playing euchre, hearts, dancing and traveling with his good friends. Later in life, he looked forward to playing Euchre at the Monroe Senior Center and at the VFW-Monroe. Earl always enjoyed long drives around the countryside looking at farms. He loved animals, driving his truck and running his tractors.

Earl and Ann met on a blind date and went roller skating where they literally “fell for each other.” After they married, they moved to their home on Dunbar Road where they still reside to this day 65 years later. He loved his home and the property they lived on. He loved to be outdoors working in the yard or sitting in a chair in the garage watching the traffic go by.

Earl was a conversationist who never met a stranger. He was known for his gift of gab and contagious smile. His family always marveled at his uncanny ability to remember every crossroad and intersection. His grandkids said he was like a human GPS.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; two daughters, Connie (Scott) Kish and Vicki Reaume both of Monroe; two grandsons, Paxton (Alli) Kish and McKinnon (Brenna) Kish and has one great grandchild on the way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Norman Reaume and sister Bernice Guetschow.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. Private burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Humane Society of Monroe County or a charity of the donor’s choice.
