Obituary

E. Maxine Morgan, 88 years of Monroe, MI went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 19, 2012 at 12:45 AM in Medilodge of Monroe.
Born May 23, 1923 in Britton, MI Maxine was the daughter of the late Jesse and Jennie (Curtis) Soncrant. Maxine's family moved to Monroe when she was a child. Maxine attended Monroe High School.
On January 24, 1942 Maxine married her beloved husband Glenn T. Morgan at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe. Sadly Glenn preceded her in death on December 8, 2008 after nearly 67 years of marriage.
Maxine was a member of Calvary United Methodist in Monroe since 1942 where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher as well as the Sunday School Secretary.
Although Maxine was a wonderful homemaker and loved to cook she also worked outside her home. One of her first jobs was at Monroe's Original Hotdog Stand as a car hop, she started working there the year it opened in 1939. She also worked at Osterman Jewelers and at the Monroe Evening News.
Maxine was a member of Frenchtown and Monroe Senior Citizens. She enjoyed Rose Gardening, crocheting, crossword puzzles, camping and was an avid bowler. Above all Maxine enjoyed time spent with family
Maxine is survived by three loving children: Dale W. (Theresa) Morgan, Sharon L. (James) Ellerman both of Monroe and Paul J. (Julie) Morgan of Rockwood, MI, five cherished grandchildren: Amy Ellerman, Eric (Rachel) Ellerman, Corey (Karolyn) Morgan, Ryan (Jessica) Morgan and Kayleigh Morgan, and four treasured great grandchildren: Christiana, Catriona, Beatrix and Henry.
In addition to her husband and her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by a brother Russell Soncrant and a sister Alice Hunter.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe. On Saturday, March 24, 2012 she will lie in state at Calvary United Methodist Church from 9:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 10:00 AM. The Rev. William T. Kreichbaum, pastor of the church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
