Obituary

Duane Richard Slaughterbeck, age 63, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 7, 2021, surrounded by his loving family, after a valiant, four-month long battle with lung cancer.
Born February 15, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter C. and Anna Mae (Pratt) Slaughterbeck. Duane attended Sylvania High School, graduating with the class of 1976. He married his beloved wife of forty-three years, Dorothy Earleen Harris in 1978 in Monroe. Duane served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1978 until 1982. Retiring from Ford Motor Company in 2018 as a Supervisor.
Duane's world revolved around his family; he was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. Duane was a hard worker and provider. He looked forward to holidays, birthday parties and any other events that would bring his family together. His most recent attraction was inviting everyone over to make their own personal pizzas, where he would stand for hours next to his pizza stone cooking everyone's pizzas. Duane took pride in maintaining his lawn and enjoyed relaxing in his La-Z-Boy recliner watching television and playing his PlayStation. He cherished his 2001 Ford SVT Lightning, so much so, he waxed it so often he almost waxed the paint off it. Duane will forever be remembered for his kind and giving heart and wonderful smile. Even when his health was ailing, he never lost his smile.
To cherish his memory, Duane leaves his wife, Dorothy Earleen; three sons: Duane R. Slaughterbeck II of Monroe, David (Tiffany) R. Slaughterbeck of Flat Rock, and Daniel (Angie) R. Slaughterbeck of LaSalle; four siblings: Marsha (Danny) Stone of Toledo, Ron (Cindy) Slaughterbeck of Sylvania, Lyn Studyvin of Wisconsin, and Terry (Peggy) Slaughterbeck of Toledo; and six grandchildren: Daniel, Mercedes, Drake, David, Carsyn, and Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings: Judy, Randy, and Bud.
