Douglas Dimeff, age 66, of Monroe, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 5:15 AM in his home with his loving family at his bedside. Doug had been in poor health for several months. Doug was born July 3, 1942 in Lovell, WY the son of the late Boris and Katie Marie (Howard) Dimeff. His family moved to Monroe in the 1940's. Doug was a 1960 graduate of Monroe High School. He furthered his education at ETSU where he received his BS in Social Studies. On February 4, 1967 Doug married the former Sandra Diroff at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe. Doug was employed as an educator for Monroe Public Schools at Monroe High School for 35 years until his retirement in 2001. In addition to his role as teacher, Doug also coached football, track, and swimming. He was the strengthening coach for the MHS girls softball and swim team and the scorekeeper for the MHS girls softball team. Doug served on the MHS curriculum committee for Social Studies and on the Hall of Fame Committee. Doug initiated the "Close Up" program for MHS students for the Washington DC visits. He also served as the Union Representative for the MHS Teachers Union. Doug was a member of St. Michael The Archangel Catholic Church in Monroe, past president of the USAFA Parents Club, and was a charter member of R.O.M.E.O. Doug's hobbies included; attending his grandchildren's sporting events, spending time in his pool, traveling, and stained glass projects. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren. Doug was currently serving as the LaSalle Township Ordinance Officer. Doug is survived by his beloved wife Sandra, his loving children; Ty (Kirsten) Dimeff of Monroe, Aric (Jennifer) Dimeff of Beavercreek, OH and Amy (Jeffery) Robinson of Luna Pier, MI, 6 cherished grandchildren: Shane, Kelsy, Jared, Rachel, Tara and Erin and a sister Susie (John) Carr of Monroe, MI. Visitation will be held on Friday from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home where a scripture service will be held at 6:00 PM. He will lie in state on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 8:30 AM until Mass of The Resurrection celebrating his life at 9:00 AM. Fr. Stephen Vileo will officiate.
