Dorothy A. "Doris" Thompson, 89 years, of Bullhead, AZ, formerly of Lincoln Park, MI passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009 at Silver Ridge Village in Bullhead. Doris was born August 3, 1920 in Stewart, TN the daughter of the late James and Ada Simpkins. On December 23, 1935 Doris married her beloved husband Henry C. Thompson. Sadly he preceded her in death on June 7, 1993. Doris worked as a Dietician for Seaway Hospital in Trenton from which she retired. Doris is survived by her son Allen C. (Debbie) Thompson of Laughlin NV, 5 grandchildren two of whom she raised; Catherine "Candy" Shoup of FL and Karen (Jim) Kidd of Monroe other surviving grandchildren are; Jon (Lori) Thompson of Manitowoc, WI, Wendy (George) Schafer of Nashotah, WI, and Rick Hamernik of Manitowoc, WI, 9 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents Doris was preceded in death by a daughter Aileen Marie Abercrombie on July 5, 1970, a granddaughter that she raised Elizabeth Davis, 2 sisters and a brother. Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, MI. The Rev. Tony Lynn pastor of Raisinville Baptist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be give to the American Cancer Society - Relay For Life – Gaglio Kidds Team. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd. in Monroe, is assisting her family with arrangements.
