Dorothy F. Crutchfield, 90, of Monroe, passed away at 9:57 AM, Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Mercy Memorial Nursing Center, where she had been for 5 days. She had been in poor health for 2 months. She was born January 1, 1919 in Sunbright, TN to Edward and Josephine (Freels) Young. On August 18, 1947 she married Arie Crutchfield in Fort Lauderdale, FL. They Came to Monroe in 1949 from Pompano Beach, FL. Sadly, he preceded her in death on March 30, 1997. A homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed attending her church, shopping, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center. Survivors include her loving children, Terry (Kaye) of Erie, and Gayl Martin of Monroe, 5 cherished grandchildren, Schalan, Mara, and John Martin, Amanda Crutchfield and Aimee (Matt) Brubaker, and 3 beloved great grandchildren, Zackary Martin, Weston Fraser, and Caleb Brubaker. Friends may call Monday from 3-8 PM at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Road. She will lie in state on Tuesday at the Stewart Road Christian Ministries Center from 10 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11 AM. Rev. Sam Luke, senior pastor of the church, will officiate. She will be buried next to her husband at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in her name may be given to the church.
