Dorothy L. Collins, age 78 of Monroe, MI, was called home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 16, 2026 while in her home.
Born Nov. 24, 1947 in Camden, AR, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Charlie and Irene (Todd) Neal. On September 18, 1995, she married
Willie E. Collins in Monroe. Sadly, he preceded Dorothy on August 2, 2016.
Dorothy was an active and faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church where she was affectionately known as "Mother Collins". She loved to cook and enjoyed fishing, western movies, and murder mystery shows.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Willie and Kenneth Collins; four daughters, Sandra (Johnny) Monroe, Willantha Collins, Olivian Collins, and Teresa Hunter; sister, Nancy Ann Patton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband Willie, Dorothy was also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Lee Hunter, brother, Charlie Neal and a sister, Shirley Hegwood.
Dorothy will lie in state at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 27th at Second Missionary Baptist Church with services beginning at 11 a.m. The church pastor, Rev. Terrance Johnson and Rev. Carl Curry will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In memory of Dorothy's spirit of giving and love of children, the family asks that monetary acts of kindness go to support St. Jude Children's Hospital.
