Doris Jean Ornosky, age 74, of Monroe, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, July 15, 2021, in her home.
Doris was born November 29, 1946, in Middletown, Ohio, she was the daughter of Ernest and Laura (Shockley) Myers.
She was a homemaker who loved to care for her family. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Jean loved her Elvis and Hank Williams Jr. She also loved her Yorkshire Terriers. Jean was known by many of her family and friends as "Mean Jean." She was a fabulous cook and especially known for her spaghetti. Jean had a serious green thumb and was able to grow anything. Throughout her life, Jean was a wicked decorator and trendsetter. Jean had an eye for fashion and could put together an outfit for anyone, for any occasion. In 2011, Jean was diagnosed with Stage 4 throat cancer. Through MD Anderson Cancer Center, Jean beat the odds and survived for over 10 years.
Doris is survived by two daughters, Melissa (Jon) Fisher and Kimberly Velker both of Monroe; two sisters, Deborah (Lamont) Carver and Patricia (Patrick Gill) Russo both of Monroe, five grandchildren, Brooke Ody (Jason LeRoy), Blake Ody, Hayden Fisher, Dakotah Vandercook and Paige Vandercook and one great grandson, Christopher Vandercook. Also, a niece and several nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ernest Myers, Jr.
In accordance with Doris' wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held, in her memory, at a later date.
