Donna J. "Dolly" Vogel, 86 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2024 in her son and daughter-in-law's home in Grosse Ile, Michigan.
Born October 21, 1937 in Monroe, Dolly was the daughter of the late Gordon F. and Mary (Dubroski) Russeau. She attended elementary school in Monroe and was a 1955 graduate of Monroe High School.
On June 29, 1957, Dolly married the love of her life and her dancing partner, Edward C. Vogel, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monroe. Sadly, Ed preceded her in death on April 9, 1988 after 30 years of marriage.
In addition to being a wonderful homemaker, Dolly worked outside the home. She worked as a secretary for Plumbers and Pipefitter local 671 in Monroe, as the manager of River Raisin Specialties in Monroe, and as a sales service representative at Ace Paper in Monroe, from which she retired.
Dolly was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Monroe and its women's auxiliary. She also baked for funeral luncheons and made baptismal bibs and scapulars.
Dolly enjoyed baking, cake decorating, and was an excellent seamstress. She also enjoyed bowling in her women's and mixed bowling leagues. Most of all Dolly loved time spent with family.
Dolly is survived by two loving children: Ann M. Vogel of Gaylord and Edward C. (Lori) Vogel II, of Grosse Ile, five cherished grandchildren: Angela (Todd) Scharbert, Edward C. (Brianne) Vogel, III, Heidi N. Vogel, and Breana and Brooklyn Dunn, five treasured great grandchildren: Alivia, Ella, Beckett, Carter, and Griffith.
In addition to her husband and parents, Dolly was preceded in death by a son, David Vogel, a grandson Kevin Shankleton, three sisters: Maryjane Zegarlowicz, Gloria "Cookie" Cadle, and Sue Francis, a brother, Joseph Russeau and a sister-in-law, Maryann Vogel.
Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-7 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, where the Rosary will be recited that evening at 6:00 pm. On Monday, June 3, 2024 she will lie in state at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2420 N. Dixie Hwy., Monroe, Michigan, 48162, at 10:00 am followed by Mass of the Resurrection celebrating Dolly's life at 11:00 am. Fr. Henry Rebello will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park.
