Donald W. Miller, age 82, of Monroe, joyfully entered the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, August 9, 2025, surrounded by family at Wellspring Lutheran Services in Monroe.
Donald was born April 6, 1943, in Monroe, the son of Westley Miller and Drussilla "Sue" (Johnson) Stieve. On October 15, 1966, he married the love of his life, Linda L. Devos, in Monroe and for the next 58 years they shared a deep love, where Don always ended the conversation with "Love you more".
Don was a devoted member of Monroe Full Gospel Church, where he faithfully served as an usher and trustee, and gladly helped however he could—whether cleaning, painting, or lending a hand wherever needed. His love for the Lord was evident in every area of his life. Don was a lifelong student of the Bible, treasuring God's Word and allowing it to shape his heart and actions. He lived out the love of Christ daily, being a gentle, giving example to all who knew him.
Don devoted many years to construction as a laborer with Local 465 and as a self-employed painter until his retirement. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, watching western movies, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife and his best friend, Linda; three brothers, Paul (Kim) Stieve of Monroe, Bill (Christy) Stieve of Las Vegas, and Marvin (Jenice) Miller of Monroe. He will also be dearly missed by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families, all of whom cherished him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Westley Miller and Drussilla Stieve, and his brother, Howard Miller.
Don's life was a testament to God's promises, including one of his favorite verses, Isaiah 40:31: "But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint."
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. On Thursday, friends may gather at 10 a.m. at Monroe Full Gospel Church, 5337 E. Albain Rd., Monroe, where the celebration of Don's life and faith will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Harold Raines officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Monroe Full Gospel church.
