Donald Walter Goda Sr., 70, a lifetime resident of Monroe, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2015. He had been in poor health for 2 years, and seriously ill for 6 months.
He was born in Monroe, on February 26, 1945, to Walter S. and Ada G. (Moyer) Goda. On July 5, 1967 he married Sharon LaBarre in Monroe. Don worked as a electrician at Union Camp for 16 years, then for Chrysler, at the Detroit Axle Plant for 18 years. He retired in 2004.
He will be remembered as a man who enjoyed boating and fishing, doing his yard work, and building things. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, #884, Monroe.
He leaves to cherish his memory his 2 sons, Donald W. Goda Jr. and Brian T. Goda, both of Monroe; his grandson, Tyler Jacob Goda; and brothers and sister, Larry (Kathy) Goda, Donna (Wayne) Thompson, and Michael (Nancy) Goda, all of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark in 2005, and brother, Robert Goda.
Friends are invited to call at the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 South Telegraph Road, on Thursday, July 2, from 11 AM - 2 PM. Funeral services to honor his life will take place that day at the funeral home at 2 PM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe.
