Donald Carr Doty, 62 years, a lifelong resident of Monroe, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at his family farm.
Born January 27, 1956 in Monroe, Donald was the son of the late Donald D. and Beverly M. (Carr) Doty. He was a 1975 graduate of Monroe High School and a graduate of Michigan State University's Department of Agriculture.
On June 28, 1991 Donald married his beloved wife, the former Mary Ann Vereb, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Monroe.
Donald worked for Ford Motor Company for the past 28 years, most recently working at Dearborn Truck. He also owned and operated Donald Doty Farms. He and his father owned and operated the family dairy farm until the early 1990's.
Donald was a member of DeMolay, Young Farmers Association, Monroe County Farm Bureau. He was active in 4-H where he won grand champion with his dairy cow. Donald was also quite a history buff. Most of all Donald enjoyed time spent with family.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years; Mary Ann, four loving children; Molly M. (William Robert) Mize of Erie, MI, Philip R. Watt of Monroe, Samuel I. Doty of Monroe, and Cylas A.D. Doty of Monroe, a cherished grandson; Blake Matthew Shipe, and two sisters; Pamela S. (Stephen Nation) Doty-Nation of Rockford, MI and Saundra L. (Paul) Coffelt of Farmington Hills, MI, and several nieces and nephews
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Evans Bentley, pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Monroe County 4-H.
