Donald C. Dietrich, age 57 of Monroe, MI, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024 in his home surrounded by family due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Don was born on September 9, 1966 in Madison, WI to Bruce and Teodora "Nene" (Cajilla) Dietrich. On May 2, 2021, he married Sally Bryan in Wyandotte, MI. He was employed as an engineer by Autokiniton in New Boston.
Don earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. He was a huge U of M sports fan. To be inside the stadium during football games, he volunteered to be a member of the U of M Event Team, only to find out it was a paid position … a win win! He enjoyed golfing and listening to music, considering himself to be an "audio enthusiast". He and Sally shared many moments together, creating memories while traveling and going on cruises.
Don is survived by his wife; three sons, Nathaniel (Stephanie Natkowski) Dietrich of Newport, Benjamin Dietrich of Wixom, MI, and Thomas Dietrich of Livonia, MI; mother, Teodora Dietrich of Midland, MI; sister, Leah (Edward) Perry of Midland, MI; granddaughter, Gwendolynn; and nieces and nephews: Kelsey Olson (Katie Meidt), Matthew Olson, Jordan (Chris) McIntyre, and Hunter (Meghann) Perry. He was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Nicholas Olson.
Bacarella Funeral Home is providing cremation arrangements in accordance with Don's request. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024 from 5 - 8 pm at the Brownstown Community Center (21311 Telegraph Road, Brownstown, MI 48183). The family requests that guests wear maize and blue in honor of Don's memory and his love of U of M.
