Donald E. "Casey" Jones, 80 years, of Monroe, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 1, 2023 in his home with his loving family at his side.
Born December 28, 1942 in Pruden, Tennessee, Casey was the son of the late William and Rose (Williams) Jones. Casey was a 1961 graduate of Pruden High School. He moved to Monroe after graduation.
Casey served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Army. He served from May of 1964 until his discharge in April of 1966. He was stationed in Germany.
On June 29, 1968, Casey married the love of his life, the former Linda S. Cosby, at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
Casey was employed for 34 years by Ford Motor Company working at the Monroe Plant. He retired as a line set up man in 2001.
Casey was an active member at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church. He served as an usher and helped with funeral luncheons and youth camp. He especially enjoyed greeting the youth of the church on Sunday mornings with his special handshake and High Fives. He always referred to the youth girls as his "Little Angel's.
Casey enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards, maintaining his lawn, attending family reunions in Tennessee, and watching the Hallmark Channel. Most of all Casey loved time spent with his family.
Casey is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda, two loving children: Donald R. (Jennifer) Jones and Angela K. (Bill) Owens of Monroe, three sisters, Irene Teague of LaFollette, TN; Nancy McCay of Dalton, GA.; and Elizabeth Bowling of Monroe, MI., two sisters-in-law, Frankie Johnson and Mary Jones; five cherished grandchildren: Josh (TaNayea) Jones, Caitlynn (fiancé, Nick Pfund) Jones, Amy (fiancé, Anthony Owens) Byron, Allison Owens, and Kaycie Lynn Owens, six treasured great grandchildren: Sawyer, Corbin, Colson, Lucas, Benjamin, Bradley, with another on the way and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents Casey was preceded in death by five siblings: Pete Jones, Marge Scott, Charlie Jones, Dana Jones, and Elise Fowler.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 3 – 8 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161, where a funeral service celebrating Casey's life will be that evening at 6:00 pm. Rev.'s Tim Iocoangeli, Roy Southerland, and Ron Brown, will officiate.
Private interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park.
