Donald Stephen (Steve) Beyer, 62, of Newport, MI, passed away peacefully in his sleep in his loving daughter's home on Wednesday, October 3, 2007. Steve was born on April 3, 1945 in Urbana, IL to Donald H. and Benita (White) Beyer. Sadly, his father preceded him in death. He is survived by his mother of Monroe. He came to the area in 1953 from Illinois and was employed by Consumers Energy in Erie MI as an engineer for 27 years and retired in 2005. He loved fishing, canoeing, and boating; especially at Bear Head Lake in Canada. The pride and love of his life were his children and grandchildren. Steve was a compassionate man filled with love and a heart that overflowed with kindness. We will all remember his elaborate and funny stories. His smile and his touching and inspirational speeches will live on in our hearts and will carry on forever. Steve was a committed son, brother, uncle, father and grandfather and gave of himself tirelessly to his friends and family. Steve will be missed by his family; son, Jordan C. (Stacy) Lucero and grandchildren Don, Dacoda, and Dylan Lucero, all of Toledo, daughter, Jennifer Beyer (Kenneth) Lacey and grandson, Caleb Lacey of Middletown, RI, and daughter Jessica Rose (Douglas) Saez and granddaughters, Aleatha and Kayley Saez, all of Newport MI, two stepdaughters, Kim and Jeannie, three brothers, Kurt, Carl, and Jimmy, and two sisters, Nancy and Becky. The family will greet friends on Saturday at the Bacarella Funeral Home starting at 2 PM with a memorial service commemorating his life at 4 PM. The Rev. Roy Southerland will officiate. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
