DDessie F. Cloum, age 81, of LaSalle, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2023 in her home surrounded by her family.
Dessie was born May 13, 1941 in Frakes, KY and she was the daughter Wylie and Martha (Taylor) Maiden. She married Donald Barron June 29, 1963, he passed away May 17, 1975. She then married Wilfred J. Cloum December 16, 1983.
She was a graduate of Henderson Settlement School in Frakes, KY. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Dessie was an assistant cook at Jefferson Public Schools retiring in 2003.
She loved quilting, sewing, growing roses, flowers, and gardening, baking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Dessie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Wilfred J. Cloum of LaSalle; four children, Terri (Rodney) Bosanac II of Monroe, Donald (Cyndi) Barron of LaSalle, Gina Cloum of Largo, FL and Andrea (Jon) Napier of Toledo; a sister, Ruby (Mac) Jones of Pineville, KY; sister in law, Birdie Maiden of Monroe, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Amy Cloum; grandson, Cody Godfrey; two brothers, Hillary and Stirl Maiden; two sisters, Effie King and Essie Russell.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI where the Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. She will lie instate Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church with a Mass of the Resurrection at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
