Our mom and Grammy passed on to a better place Sunday, June 22, 2025 from complications from dementia and is now dancing in heaven with the love of her life.
Debra Kaye Cuykendall, age 65, was born November 7, 1959 in Albion Michigan and married David Cuykendall November 7, 1974. From their union, they became parents to James David and Amber Lynn.
Deb loves her kids, grandkids and any other person she came in contact with. (Although if she didn't like you, she had no problem letting you know that.) There are many of James' and Amber's friends that thought of her as their mom and the many, many extra grandkids that love her. She enjoyed watching all the sports the kids took part in and the demolition derbies that the boys did.
She worked as the crossing guard at Waterloo Elementary and then went on to be a certified nursing assistant at MagnumCare for more than 20 years. In her retirement years she spent more time with her husband, kids and grandkids.
Sadly, she is preceded in death by her husband, David, her mother, Shirley, and a grandson, Tyler Weaver.
Deb will be missed forever by her children, James (Beth) Cuykendall and Amber (Jimmy) Sivil; seven grandchildren, Mark, Jacob, Jana, Beyonca, Joseph, Anthony and Daniel; great granddaughter, Lillyann; her father and stepmother, Roger and Margaret Anne Mackey; three siblings, Wendy Kinchen, Greg (Kim) Mackey and Dawn (Jamie) Wood.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 2 to 8 p.m. at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
The family would like to thank Elara Hospice and the staff at IHM, especially Carol, for making this journey as easy as possible for her and her family.
