Debra "Debi" S. Bogi, age 56, of Milan, MI passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI after a brief illness. Debi was born August 16, 1952 in Monroe, MI the daughter of John P. and Ina I. (Wain) Bogi Sr. Debi was a 1970 graduate of Dundee High School and attended Washtenaw Community College. Debi was employed as an administrative assistant for 37 years at the University of Michigan where for the past 18 years she worked in the Sea Grant Department. Debi was an active member of the Monroe Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the J.O.Y. Choir, was a member of the nursing home ministry that would travel to area nursing homes and sing for the residents, was a Mentor, and was a member of the Ladies Craft Ministry. Debi is survived by her beloved parents John and Ina Bogi Sr. of Maybee, MI, 4 loving siblings; J. Paul (Milica) Bogi Jr. of Ann Arbor, MI, Brenda K. (Mark) Fetterly of Monroe, MI, James A. (Tina) Bogi of Monroe, MI and Brian L. (Dennise) Bogi of Maybee, MI and many cherished nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd in Monroe. On Thursday, May 7, 2009 she will lie in state at Monroe Missionary Baptist Church from 10 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 11 AM. The Rev. Roy Southerland pastor of the church will officiate. Interment will follow at Northside Cemetery in Maybee, MI. Memorial contributions may be given to Monroe Missionary Baptist Church.
