Deborah A. Stoyek, age 71, of Monroe passed away Friday, September 23, 2022 in her home.
Deborah was born December 1, 1950 in Monroe, she was the daughter of Joe and Mary (Peters) Stoyek. She married Michael LaFountain April 6, 1978, he preceded her in death October 21, 2012.
Debby was a 1968 graduate of Monroe High School. She went on the obtain a Bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and a Master's degree from Eastern Michigan University.
She was employed at the Social Security office in Monroe for many years. She then taught hearing impaired children at Trenton Public Schools until her retirement on July 1, 2011.
Debby was a lifelong learner and voracious reader. She also loved music and played both piano and violin.
She had many charities that she like to support, with Habitat for Humanity being the cause closest to her heart.
She is survived by her stepson, Jason (Elizabeth) LaFountain of Oklahoma; two step grandchildren, Jayda and Nolan; four siblings, Nancy (Randall) Monday of Monroe, Farley (Lynda) Stoyek of Clarkston, Sharon Beeby of Clarkston, Paul (Barb) Stoyek of Dearborn Heights, many nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, Augie, who meant the world to her.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents.
In accordance with Debby's wishes cremation has taken place and a private family celebration will take place at a later date. Bacarella Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
The family suggests the memorial contributions in Debby's memory be made to Habitat for Humanity.
