Deborah Jean Gross, age 68, of Monroe, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, May 18, 2026, after a courageous and vivacious battle with cancer.
Born on October 5, 1957, in Monroe, Michigan, Deborah was the daughter of Arnold and Barbara (Cadle) Lindsay. She married the love of her life, John F. Gross, and together they built a life full of family, laughter, creativity, and resilience.
Deborah was truly one of a kind — vibrant, artistic, strong-willed, and unforgettable. She had an eye for beauty in everything she touched. Over the years, she owned several businesses throughout Monroe and became known for her incredible talent in decorating, crafting, and floral design. Weddings held a special place in her heart, and she poured love into every arrangement she created, always wanting brides to feel beautiful and celebrated on their special day.
Her creativity extended far beyond flowers. Deborah loved gardening, being outdoors, feeding the wildlife around her home, and creating warmth and beauty wherever she went. She had a magnetic personality, a sharp sense of humor, and a way of making people feel welcomed and cared for. Even through life’s hardships, Deborah continued to show strength, grace, and deep love for the people closest to her.
More than anything, Deborah cherished her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose love ran deep and whose presence filled a room. Her family was her greatest pride and greatest joy.
She is survived by her devoted husband, John; her children, Christina (Gerald) Steinberg, Tara (Justin) Mann, Gerald Cuykendall, Cherette Cuykendall, and Bethoney Desilvis; sisters, LeeAnn Matthews, Rachel Krzeminski, Loretta Guire, and Catherine (Steven) Legato; and her cherished grandchildren, Brent, Christian, Jerry, Destiny, Linus, Brandon, Quinton, and Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her father, Arnold Lindsay, and her sister, Melanie Sue Lindsay.
Memorial visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at Bacarella Funeral Home, where a memorial service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Brenda Jackson will officiate.
The family invites those attending to come share stories, memories, laughter, and love in honor of a woman who made life brighter, more beautiful, and far more memorable for everyone lucky enough to know her.
