David F. Ayala, Sr., 71 years, of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.
Born June 21, 1943 in Mountain Home, Texas, David was the son of the late Juan F. and Manuela (Fernandez) Ayala.
On March 10, 1962 David married his beloved wife, the former Minerva B. Lozano in Kerrville, Texas. They moved to Monroe in 1968.
He was employed by Ford Motor Company, working at the Monroe Plant from which he retired in 1985.
David attended Divine Grace Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee, Michigan.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers. David enjoyed watching football both college and high school. He often attended Dundee High School football games and would be seen standing by the fence, watching the game, eating popcorn. More than anything David loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
David is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years: Minerva, four loving children: David F. (Laura) Ayala, Jr. of Monroe, Albert T. Ayala of Milan, MI, Melissa A. (Manford) Begley of McKinney, TX and Katherine A. (Jeffrey) Killion of Maybee, MI, nine cherished grandchildren: Manny Lee, Amanda, and Matthew Begley, Madison, Christian, and Emily Killion, and Aidan, Stephen, and Allisyn, Ayala, and three sisters: Mary Helen (Ernest) Valderez of Kerrville, TX, Lydia Martinez of Lubbock, TX and Rachel Lara of Kerrville, TX.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by a grandson: Colin Killion, five brothers: John, Freddie, Raymond, Roy, and Thomas, a sister: Patricia.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday from 2-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, MI, 48161 where a Rosary Service will be held Friday at 7:00 PM. On Saturday, September 20, 2014, he will lie in state at Divine Grace Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maybee from 9:00 AM until Mass of the Resurrection celebrating his life at 10:00 AM. Fr. John Dumas will officiate. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery in Maybee.
