Clodis Varnett "Honey" Cheatham, 72 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with The Lord on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 6:26 PM in Mercy Memorial Hospital.
Born August 20, 1938 in Ann Arbor, MI, Clodis was the daughter of the late George Homer and Clodis Clara (Toles) Cheatham. Clodis grew up in Monroe and attended Lincoln Elementary School and was a 1957 graduate of Monroe High School.
Clodis was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and was baptized in her early teens at the church by the Rev. John M. Burrell.
Clodis was a very loving, caring and giving woman who had an incredible smile that would brighten anyone's day. She was a member of the Women's League at the Salvation Army where she also volunteered to do housekeeping. Clodis also volunteered at Monroe County Mental Health. Above all Clodis loved her family.
Clodis is survived by her 2 loving children; John Michael and Marquita J. Cheatham both of Monroe, a brother Gene R. Cheatham of Monroe, a sister Mildred F. Stringer of Monroe, 6 cherished grandchildren, several treasured great grandchildren and a former son in law Rufus Smith. In addition to her parents, Clodis was preceded in death by a son Joe Wallace Frazier, 5 brothers; Frederick, Morris, William, George, an infant brother Willie Clark Cheatham, and 3 sisters; Cecelia Ann Moore, Georgia C. Jones and Mary Ernestine Wood.
Visitation will on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe from 11:00 AM until funeral services celebrating her life at 1:00 PM. The Rev. Al Overstreet and the Rev. Allen C. Overton will officiate.
