Obituary

Clifford Thomas "Cliff" or "C.T." Friar, age 92, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024 at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital.
Cliff was born May 18, 1932 in Newport, he was the son of James O. and Laura M. (Rice) Friar. He married Beatrice A. Burke August 3, 1961 in Monroe.
He served his country in the US Army Dec 10, 1952 until his honorable discharge November 4, 1954. During his enlistment he earned the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal and Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation.
Cliff worked as a carpenter out of Union Local 1301 for 32 years, he retired in 1990.
He was a member of Monroe Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of VFW Post 1138. He enjoyed woodworking, was an avid Detroit sports fan and looked forward to spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Beatrice; seven children, Michael T. (Heather) Friar of Perrysburg, OH, Clifford E. Friar of VA, Brian (Laura) Friar of Monroe, Vickie (John) Rago of Holiday, FL, Deborah (David) Dinger of Akron, OH, Jeanie Friar of Colorado Springs, CO and Robert Kraljevich of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; brother, Hubert (Joy) Friar of Homestead, FL; ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Friar and Charles Brooks; two sisters, Bessie Berry and Florence Bussell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28, 2024 from 11 a.m. until services begin at 2 p.m at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1138 Monroe and Rev. Roy Southerland, pastor of Lambertville Community Church, will officiate. Private interment will be held at a later time at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
