Clarence L. Myers, 80, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 14, 1944 in Monroe, Michigan to the late Basil and Lilian (Navarre) Myers. He married Linda Denes in 1976.
Clarence graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. He worked for Woodhaven Stamping Plant before being drafted in 1967. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a combat soldier. After being discharged he worked for General Motors as a steward on their executive jets. He then returned to Ford Motor Company in 1972. Clarence retired from Ford (Visteon) in 2005 as the Material Control Manager and continued in a consulting position.
Clarence enjoyed watching and playing sports, traveling, and golfing. He was meticulous with his yard and garden. He loved coaching his children in their younger years. He had an amazing group of friends and always looked forward to their Thursday night get-togethers. What brought him the most joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons, Lucas, Jake, and Mitchell.
Clarence will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and wit, his kindness, generosity, and charity work as a committee member of the DDQ Golf Outing and the St. Nick's Club. Clarence was a member of VFW Post 1138, where he served on their Ritual Team.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda (Denes) Myers; son, Steven and daughter, Julie (Jesse) Simon, and his grandsons, Lucas, Jake, and Mitchell. He is also survived by his brothers, Basil Myers, Darrell Myers and sister, Ruth Fish.
He is preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Maxine Myers; brother, James Myers and sisters, Georgetta Poleo and Eva Micka; brothers-in-law, Bill Poleo and Charles Fish; sister-in-law, Noreen Myers and nephew, David Fish.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2024 at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe. To honor Clarence's memory a celebration of his life will be led by Deacon Mike Stewart and military honors will be provided by VFW Post 1138 on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to Holiday Camp of Monroe or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
