? Clarence "Bud" B. Knight, 83 years, of Monroe, MI went home to be with The Lord on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Mercy Memorial Nursing Care Center in Monroe.
Born August 18, 1929 in Oil City, PA, Bud was the son of the late Harrison and Ammy (McCanna) Knight. Bud was a 1947 graduate of Clarion High School in Clarion, PA.
Bud served his country honorably and proudly during the Korean War as a Sergeant in the US Army. Bud served from February 1952 to November 1953. He received the following: Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Bud served as an active reservist until August 1, 1960.
While serving his country, Bud began to correspond with Donna Grosteffon who became the love of his life and on May 7, 1955 he married at Calvary United Methodist Church in Monroe.
Bud began his career working for Goldberg Auto Parts in Oil City and went on to work at Whites Ford. In 1960 Bud moved to Monroe and became the parts manager for Webster Duvall Lincoln Mercury where he worked until 1983. He then went to work for Franklin Park Lincoln Mercury in Toledo until his retirement in August of 1991. Bud enjoyed working, so in 1993 he went back to work part time for Murrays Auto Discount where he worked until 2000.
Bud attended Calvary United Methodist Church and was a life member of the VFW Post 1138. Bud enjoyed gardening and was an avid baseball card collector.
Bud is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 58 years, Donna, two loving daughters: Dianne M. (Dallas) Burnett of Adrian, MI and Brenda L. Knight of Mt. Vernon, IL, and two cherished grandchildren: Jason and Cory Sackett.
In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by two sisters: Joan Snyder and an infant sister.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-8 PM in the Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. William Kreichbaum, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park where the VFW Post 1138 will conduct military honors.
