Obituary

Chester C. Pietszak Sr., 79, of Monroe, died at 4:05 PM, Wednesday, June 27, 2007 in the Mercy Memorial Hospital, Monroe, where he had been for 10 days. He had been in poor health for 6 months. He was born September 6, 1927 in Detroit, MI to Charles C. and Lillian Eve Pietszak. After serving in the US Army during World War II, he met and was married to Elizabeth Scznsny on July 1, 1944 at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, Detroit. They came to Monroe in 1945 from Detroit where he was employed for 40 years at Detroit Stoker, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe and the Polish Legions of American Veterans Post #11, Detroit. He enjoyed fishing, boating, listening to music, and shopping with his grandchildren. Survivors include his wife Elizabeth, son, Robert Pietszak of Erie, daughters, Lillian (Doyle) Williamson of Monroe and Caroline (Victor) Carroll of Newport, brothers, Charles Pietszak of Dearborn and Edward (Shirley) Pietszak of Michigan City, sisters, Delores Sammon of Detroit, Dorothy Martin of East Tawas, Patricia Wojcieckowski of Detroit, Virginia (Edward) Kirby of East Tawas, and Olga (James) Oliver of Alabama, 18 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Chester C. Pietszak Jr. and Larry Pietszak, and 2 grandsons, James Williamson and Matthew Pietszak. Friends may call Friday from 3-9 at the Bacarella Funeral Home, a Rosary service will be held at 5 PM Friday at the funeral home. He will lie in state Saturday from 10 AM until a Mass of the Resurrection at 11 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Monroe, and Fr. William Fisher will officiate.
