Charles Corbit Witt, 77 years old, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, formerly of Monroe, Michigan, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at Applewood Nursing Center in Woodhaven, Michigan.
Born January 17, 1947 in Middlesboro, KY, Chuck was the son of the late Lawrence and Geneva (Carmack) Witt. He was a 1964 graduate of Monroe High School.
In 1965, Chuck married the former Linda A. Goodman in Monroe. In 2000 he married his beloved wife Mary in Hampton, SC. Sadly, she preceded him in death in 2018.
Chuck was employed as a Warehouse Trucking Manager at Jones Transfer in Monroe for 20 years from which he retired. Prior to Jones Transfer, Chuck worked at Ford Motor Company's Woodhaven Stamping Plant.
Chuck was a huge fan of NASCAR and enjoyed fishing, boating, motorcycles, and playing cards, especially UNO. He looked forward to fish dinners with his son in law, Joe, and taking his fur baby "Sweat Pea" around Grosse Ile on his scooter. Nothing brought Chuck more joy than watching his two great granddaughters play and time spent with family.
Chuck is survived by four loving children: Roxanne L. (Joe) VonHabsburg of Woodhaven, Charles "Gene" (Heather) Witt of Taylor, Dawn M. (Josh) Easton of Bartlett, TN, and Kenny (DeeDee) Kinsey of South Carolina, a son in law, Dennis Kirkendall of Chattanooga, TN, a sister in law, Michelle Witt of Northern, MI, 18 cherished grandchildren, 21 treasured great grandchildren and three siblings: Mickey Witt of Toledo, OH, Patti Witt of Wyandotte, and Don (Rizza) Hensley of Texas.
In addition to his parents and wife Mary, Chuck was preceded in death by a daughter, Cyndi L. Kirkendall and a brother Jim Witt.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 from 2 – 8 pm at Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., Monroe, Michigan, 48161. In keeping with Chuck's wishes, cremation will follow visitation.
