Obituary

Charles H. Cox, 80, of Sneedville, TN since 1990, formerly of Monroe, died Monday, October 2, 2006 in his home. He was born June 7, 1926 in Middlesboro, KY to Nathaniel Zan and Stella Mae (Poore) Cox. He served in the US Navy during WWII for 2 years in the 43rd and 31st Seabees receiving an E5 rank. He married the former Delsie Maiden December 9, 1946 in Middlesboro and they moved to Monroe in the late 1940's. General Motors employed him at the Willow Run plant, Ypsilanti for 32 years, he retired in 1986. A devoted father and grandfather, Charles was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed tinkering on cars. Survivors include a son Larry H. of Monroe, 3 daughters, Linda L. (Johnny) Newsome and Claudia M. George of Monroe, and Kathy A. Ritchie of Tazewell, TN, 2 brothers, Bill of Speedwell, TN and Junior of Lenoir, NC, 2 sisters, Betty Sneed of Deerfield, MI and Trula Brown of Lenoir, NC, 10 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. Sadly, he was preceded in death by his wife, August 10, 2001, and a grandson, Jimmy Cox. Friends may call 1-8 PM Friday at the Bacarella Funeral Home where services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM. The Rev. Betty Jean Marlow of Faith Chapel Church of God, Temperance will officiate, followed by a military service conducted by the VFW Post #1138, Monroe. Burial will take place next to his dear wife at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Memorial gifts in his name may be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
