Charles Corum, age 81, of Monroe, MI passed away, Wednesday, November 25, 2008 in St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, OH. Charles had been in poor health for the past 2 years. Charles was born May 8, 1927 in Luttrell, TN the son of the late Lee and Etha (Booker) Corum. Charles moved to Monroe in 1945. In October of 1948 Charles married his beloved wife the former Ethel Cawood in Monroe. Charles was employed as a truck driver for Jones Transfer Company in Monroe for 26 years. Charles then became the owner/operator of his own trucking company until his retirement in 1982. After retirement Charles and Ethel spent much of their time at their home in Alpena, MI. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family. Charles is survived by his beloved wife Ethel, 3 loving children; Daniel (Beverly) Corum of Monroe, Larry (Mary) Corum of Alpena, MI, and Donna Beckner of Monroe. 8 cherished grandchildren; Dawn, Shawna, Michelle, Jason, Becki, Elizabeth, Christopher, and Kevin, 2 treasured great grandchildren; Madison and Brianna, and his daughter in law Josephine Corum of St. Mary's, GA. In addition to his parents Charles was preceded in death by his son David Corum and his sister Georgia Renner. Memorial contributions may be given to a charity of the donor's choice. In keeping with Charles's wishes all funeral services will be private. The Bacarella Funeral Home, 1201 S. Telegraph Rd., in Monroe is assisting his family with funeral arrangements.
