Obituary

Cathy Sue Drew, age 68 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in her home.
Born April 29, 1957 in Monroe, Cathy was the daughter of the late Alton and Susie (Vanderpool) Clark. She attended Monroe Public Schools and was previously employed by K-Mart and Meijer in Monroe as a Receiving Clerk.
Cathy was happiest when she was interacting with her children, grandkids, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Everyone knew her as "Nana". Her personal hobbies included camping, painting, and walking the Mackinac Bridge.
Cathy is survived by three sons, Barry (Alicia) Broughton of Lubbock, TX, James (Sarah) Drew of Monroe, and Chris Drew of Monroe; three brothers, Daniel (Cindy) Clark of Lincoln Park, MI, Dennis (Becky) Clark of Monroe, and Thomas (Susan) Clark of Temperance; eight grandchildren: Caleb Broughton, Faith Drew, Marissa (Gabe) Cocherell, Ryan (Jessica) Bellestri, Owen Drew, Mason McDonald, Conner McDonald, and Ella McDonald; nine great-grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews who she helped raise; and the love of her life, Jim Christensen who she met 8 years ago.
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Tammy Drew.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at the Knights of Columbus Hall (202 W. Front St. Monroe 48161) on Monday, July 7th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 12 p.m. followed by sharing of memories by her family at 1 p.m.
For anyone wanting to make a donation in memory of Cathy, the family encourages supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in lieu of flowers.
